The golf balls we use today have cores of titanium and consist of two, three or four layers of synthetic materials. Certain specifications must be met in reference to weight and size depending on how and where the ball will be used. No other sport has had as many advances in technology as the golf ball. There has truly much evolution in the history of the golf ball.
 
Add to that the fact that a featherie is totally useless once it got wet. It simply burst when hit or when it hit solid surfaces because the stitches on the leather get loose easily. Since the genius of mankind was not yet fully explored and cultivated at that time-precisely because I wasn't born yet-the poor people of the planet had to make do wit the featherie as the official golf ball for two hundred years. Of course, I need not say that custom logo golf balls were not yet a fad at that time.
 
In your living room or a wide hallway, setup some laundry baskets at different lengths. Find an old piece of carpet (or chip off your current carpet ¨C just don't chunk it) to the baskets, focus on landing the ball in the buckets. I prefer to use different size baskets and give them each a different point value based on difficulty. I then play against myself with a pre-determined amount of balls. If you're feeling brave, use real golf balls ¨C just be aware, a golf ball can easily crack a TV screen (no questions please).
